Sport Fishing

Sula’s history goes all the way back to the 1200s. Fishermen from all over Trøndelag and the Møre’s coast moved to Sula to join this remarkable fishing realm for its abundance of fish stocks.

Sula is where the civilization ends and the Norwegian Sea begins. It’s an idyllic place for any type of sport’s fishermen.

Most of the bottom of the Norwegian Sea lies at a great depth and Sula is just a short distance away from its richest fishing grounds.

The Norwegian Sea is ice-free throughout the year, and thus fishing is good all year round with us!
Here there’s abundance of cod, pollack, saithe, haddock, halibut and crustaceans; yet, in the depth waters of the Norwegian sea, many surprises can spice up your fishing trip. Success is guaranteed.

What can I expect in terms of numbers and size of fish?

The probability of big catches is great, and the quantity as never been an issue for our guests.

The fishing of Atlantic mackerel, haddock and ling are the most popular among our sport’s fishermen, and the fishing of big-sized pollacks hits its climax in the summer, which has become the greatest attraction for our engaged fishermen.

Here there’s plenty of large saithes around the coast of Sula and there’s also a high chance for halibut. The catch of catfish is possible earlier in the season.

What are the fishing hours?

The fishing hours are within reason up to the guests if you have a one-week’s boat rental agreement. If our guests plan to go out fishing during the night, they are asked to inform the hotel about it due safety reasons. If you are renting a boat for only one day and exclusively, you are expected to deliver the boat maximum at 21.00 o’clock.

Do I need to book fishing?

It is suggested that all our boats are booked at the time of room reservation as they are very popular.  If you have questions about the booking procedure, please contact the hotel for further details.
